TAX INFORMATION

Sales tax ranges from 5.21-16.38% (and is always included in the advertised price), varying widely between what are regarded as essential items and luxury goods. Non-EU visitors can obtain a tax deduction of 12-13% on purchases of over €175 in any one day from some stores, by obtaining a form at the relevant shop and presenting it to customs on departure.     Paris metro stations app: smartphone users are advised to install this free application to help navigate around the vast Parisian metro network.NB: Please note that the RER A will be closed for renovation from 23rd July, between La Défense and Nation stations.
  • TAXIS
    To take a taxi, you can hail one in the street, go to a taxi stand or call a taxi company (see examples below). Taxis in Paris can be reached 24/7 by calling a simple number (cost of a local call) managed by Paris City Hall: +33 (1) 45 30 30 30

BICYCLE HIRE

Vélib’ is Paris’s city-wide bike hire service. You can buy a 1-day ticket (€1.70 online or at any Vélib’ station) and use Vélib’ as often as you want during 24 hours. The first 30 minutes are free. The ticket is valid for 24 hours. After the initial 30 minutes, the rates are as follows:

  • 1st additional half-hour: €1
    2nd additional half-hour: €2
    Any further time, per half hour: €4
