Prior to coming to IÉSEG, I studied Business Administration in Germany. I was particularly attracted to IÉSEG because of the intercultural and international environment at the School and the possibility for me to gain international experience that will be useful for my future career in finance.

The Master in Banking, Capital Markets & Financial Technology program is providing me with a very concrete understanding of investment banking and capital markets. The courses in the Bloomberg trading room have also helped to develop my knowledge and technical skills in finance.

Lille is a very active student city, and a perfect environment to enjoy your French experience and to meet new people.

The courses have really helped me to develop my understanding about financial markets and investment and I have really enjoyed the opportunity to study with students from around the world.

Prior to coming to IÉSEG, I worked in a local bank in Colombia in the credit department dealing with operations in Central America.

I chose IÉSEG because of its international reputation and because the Master in Investment Banking and Capital markets would provide a great opportunity to develop my skills and knowledge in these areas.

The courses have really helped me to develop my understanding about financial markets and investment and I have really enjoyed the opportunity to study with students from around the world, learning about their cultures and way of thinking.

Lille is an active city, with many attractions, and as a student city it is a perfect place to meet new people from diverse cultures.

IÉSEG helped me to solidify my skills in the technical topics covered in the Master in Investment Banking and Capital Markets, particularly through courses like Debt and Equity Capital Markets, Risk Management, Financial Regulations and Compliance, etc. Given my current job at Morgan Stanley in the Credit Risk Management department, I have had the opportunity to apply directly the knowledge and skills I gained during the program.

In fact, the broad array of courses that the Master covers has proven useful in increasing the quality and scope of the analytical work I carry out on a day-to-day basis. This is crucial because the approach to risk management has now become integrative following the aftermath of the crisis.

My studies at IÉSEG helped me on different levels in my career. First, they helped me to get to know different cultures and form strong bonds with people all over the world. This was useful when engaging with different stakeholders at the beginning of my career. Having finished a Master in Banking, Capital Markets and Financial Technology at IÉSEG, I had a good understanding of how financial markets work and what would interest me in my future life. During my degree, I was also advised on how to approach and prepare interviews, which helped me immensely in order to get my first job.

I am still in touch with many of my former classmates. Although almost none of them work in the same country as I do, I stayed in touch with many of them either by visiting them or through social media. My IÉSEG network even helped me to broker business deals and collaborate with former classmates.

My advice to future students would be to tell them to work on their soft skills and to look to work for businesses with exponential growth. Often it is the little details that make you seem approachable, emotionally available and dedicated to a cause that will give you the job or an internship. Better understanding what the other side expects from you will take you a long way.

The international dimension provided by IÉSEG has been of immense importance to me because it opened up a network on a global scale. Working with many nationalities on group projects has also been a very enriching experience. It greatly helped me to develop my intercultural and communication skills.

Before joining IÉSEG, I did a Bachelor’s Degree in International Management in Geneva, Switzerland.

I chose IÉSEG for its reputation and because the school offered a Master in Investment Banking and Capital Markets, which was more specialized than some of the finance programs I was looking at.

In our class, we had more than 10 nationalities, which gave me the chance to work with people from different cultures on different projects.

I have really appreciated that professors approach the courses in both a theoretical and practical way and look to push us outside of our comfort zone.

I have really enjoyed the portfolio management (equity and fixed income) courses, which were extremely interesting. They are directly linked with the content of the CFA certificate, which gives us excellent knowledge if we want to pass the CFA later. During the portfolio management equity course, we built an active portfolio, an ETF (Exchange Traded Fund), etc.

After the end of my Master’s degree, I will carry out my internship at JP Morgan in London.
