French or another foreign language

All MIB students have the option to take a foreign language as one of his or her electives, and French is the mandatory choice for all non-French speaking students. This way, students can take full advantage of the program’s internationalization. That being said, there are particular regulations for course registration, depending on each student’s linguistic capacities.

For non-francophone students… you are expected to take a French language course (it is NOT advised to take another language course on top of French language, seeing as the MIB program course load is intensive). Without exception, the French language course is MANDATORY FOR ALL NON-FRANCOPHONE STUDENTS. During orientation, students will take a French language assessment test. Depending on these scores, the students will be placed in the appropriate French language course level.

For francophone students… you have the choice of one of the four languages (German, Italian, Chinese and Spanish) as an elective. Keep in mind, to open a course there must be a MINIMUM of 10 students interested in learning the language. If not, the course cannot be offered that semester.
