ABSTRACT<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The author will present a research project where a leadership development intervention was evaluated. The project was conducted in a collaboration involving the Department of Industrial Psychology at Stellenbosch University and a management consulting firm. The author will first present an evaluation of the philosophy of adult learning of the leadership development intervention. After a brief overview of the humanistic philosophy of adult learning from a leadership development perspective, the author argues why experiential learning is only a partial remedy that explains why leadership development fails. The author then discusses the evaluation of 12 leadership development interventions that took place between 2018 to 2022. This research used two research designs in its evaluation: (a) Pre during and post interventions feedback from peers and followers on the experiential group in a single group longitudinal research design and (b) Pre and post intervention feedback from followers in a quasi experiential research design. He will finish the presentation with a discussion of the implications of his findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
