Then, I studied at HEC Montreal where I pursued my PhD, specializing in Information Technology. It was an interesting transition, bridging my engineering background with Information Systems, which blends technology with the human aspect. After my PhD, I joined I\u00c9SEG, where I&#8217;ve been for more than nine years now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">What led you to teaching?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Teaching has been a natural inclination for me since my student days. I always enjoyed helping my friends understand complex concepts. During my PhD, I had the opportunity to teach for the first time in front of a class of 70 people, and despite feeling a bit nervous at first, I found it energizing and stimulating. It was then I realized my passion for teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">What subjects do you teach at I\u00c9SEG?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Teaching AI is a significant aspect of my role at I\u00c9SEG. In addition to teaching, I&#8217;m actively involved in research in the field of human-AI interaction. However, the bulk of my teaching revolves around various subjects. For instance, I often cover topics related to data analytics, and enterprise systems. I structure my courses to encompass a comprehensive understanding of these subjects. Whether it&#8217;s discussing the strategic application of Information Systems or their practical value for businesses, I aim to provide students with a well-rounded perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">Could you summarize your area of teaching in a few words?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>My courses revolve around Information Systems. We explore topics like how Information Systems add value to organizations and how people interact with these systems. Our approach to AI, for example, is not purely technical. Instead, we examine its usage and how it generates value for businesses. The emphasis is on understanding how various Information Systems transform organizations, and how we can overcome the challenges associated with their implementations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">Given the rapidly evolving nature of AI, how do you stay abreast of the latest developments?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The field of technology, including AI, is ever-changing. Since I began teaching in this area, I&#8217;ve witnessed significant advancements and shifts. This constant evolution necessitates updating our teaching materials to keep pace with the latest trends. Personally, I find it invigorating to embrace these changes and incorporate them into my teaching. When I first introduced AI in 2019, for instance, its landscape was completely different from the year after. This rapid transformation underscores the dynamic nature of the field and the importance of staying informed. I rely on a variety of sources, including social media, newsletters, and firsthand usage experience, to stay updated on the latest developments. By continuously learning and adapting, I ensure that my teaching remains relevant and impactful for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">How do you transmit your passion to your students?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Each class has its own requirements, and I tailor my teaching approach accordingly. For example, in teaching AI to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieseg.fr\/en\/programs\/specialized-masters\/grande-ecole-programme-5-years\/bachelor\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">undergraduates<\/a>, I start with the fundamentals of AI, ensuring they grasp the basic concepts before delving into more complex topics. As we progress, we explore the strategic implications of AI and its practical applications in the business world. Despite being a relatively new field, AI is a topic I&#8217;m already deeply passionate about. My enthusiasm translates into the classroom, fostering an engaging and dynamic learning environment. This passion often resonates with students, enhancing their understanding and appreciation of the subject. Additionally, given the current relevance of AI, it naturally captures the interest of students, further enriching the learning experience. Ultimately, my goal is to instill in students the same passion and curiosity for AI that drives my own research and teaching endeavors. This commitment to excellence and passion for the subject is often reflected in positive student evaluations, highlighting the impact of a passionate and dedicated professor, according to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">What are your teaching methods?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In my classes, I prioritize student engagement and interactivity. Rather than relying solely on lectures, I encourage active participation through various means. For instance, I often incorporate case studies and game-based approaches to foster engagement. I believe this not only makes learning enjoyable but also enhances understanding. Recognizing the challenge of maintaining focus for extended periods, I aim to keep students actively involved throughout the class. I&#8217;ve learned that passive listening isn&#8217;t conducive to effective learning, so I encourage students to participate actively in discussions and activities. Additionally, I ask questions that prompt students to think deeply and engage in problem-solving. I&#8217;ve also found that storytelling can be particularly effective in helping students remember concepts. Whether through case studies or narratives, presenting information in a story format triggers their curiosity and facilitate their understanding of the topic. Overall, my teaching philosophy centers on creating an interactive and engaging learning environment that promotes active participation and deep learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">Why did you choose I\u00c9SEG?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, I had some connections at I\u00c9SEG and knew people there, which initially drew me to explore opportunities at the school. During the interview process, I had the chance to interact with colleagues who were not only welcoming but also friendly and supportive. This sense of camaraderie and acceptance resonated with me and played a significant role in my decision to join I\u00c9SEG. I believe that the connections we form with our colleagues in the workplace are crucial, and the welcoming atmosphere at I\u00c9SEG made it an appealing choice for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">I\u00c9SEG\u2019s Vision revolves around empowering changemakers for a better society. How does this vision resonate with you?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I would say that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieseg.fr\/en\/the-school\/about-ieseg\/vision-mission-values\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">I\u00c9SEG\u2019s Vision<\/a> aligns with my personal beliefs and teaching philosophy. In our classrooms, we strive to instill knowledge and skills that empower students to create positive change. By facilitating their growth and development, we contribute not only to their personal advancement but also to the improvement of society as a whole. This notion of making a meaningful impact through education is deeply motivating for me as a professor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">What do you find most rewarding about being a professor?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For me, the most rewarding aspect is the opportunity to make a tangible difference in students&#8217; lives. Witnessing their growth, both academically and personally, and knowing that I played a part in their journey towards success is incredibly fulfilling. The sense of impact and contribution to society that comes with teaching is truly gratifying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">In your opinion, what value your international background brings to I\u00c9SEG?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I believe that an international background fosters empathy and understanding among individuals from diverse backgrounds, which is crucial in a multicultural environment like here, at I\u00c9SEG. It helps cultivate a sense of inclusivity and acceptance of different cultures, turning diversity into a valuable asset rather than a limitation. Personally, having lived in various countries with distinct cultures, I find it easier to relate to and connect with colleagues and students from international backgrounds, enhancing my sense of belonging and inclusiveness within the I\u00c9SEG community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The international dimension of I\u00c9SEG is one of its most valuable attributes, in my opinion. The presence of colleagues and students from around the world enriches the learning environment and promotes cross-cultural understanding. It&#8217;s a testament to I\u00c9SEG\u2019s commitment to diversity and inclusion, and I believe it adds immense value to the overall educational experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">Reflecting on your time at I\u00c9SEG, do you have any memorable experiences or moments that stand out to you?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of my fondest memories at I\u00c9SEG stem from my interactions with students in the classroom. Receiving heartfelt messages or cards from students expressing their gratitude and sharing how they&#8217;ve applied what they&#8217;ve learned in my courses to their careers or personal growth is incredibly rewarding.
