Every year, Pink October<\/a><\/em> mobilizes people around the world in support of a vital cause: the fight against breast cancer. This month of awareness aims to inform, prevent, and support all the women affected by the disease. The Bureau de l\u2019Humanitaire<\/em> (Humanitarian office) of I\u00c9SEG Lille<\/a> and D\u00e9fil\u2019Cancer<\/em>, two student associations, have joined forces to launch a solidarity initiative in support of this cause: the \u201cPink Beanies Challenge.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a wonderful project, and we\u2019re really proud of it. This is the first time we\u2019ve organized something like this with the Bureau de l\u2019Humanitaire, and it was very important to us to create a large-scale event for Pink October, as breast cancer affects more and more people,\u201d<\/em> explains Lisa Maigrot, President of the Humanitarian Office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cPink Beanies Challenge\u201d: bringing people together<\/h3>\n\n\n\nEn quoi consiste ce challenge ? D\u2019abord, du 1er au 17 octobre, une phase de collecte de t-shirts a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9alis\u00e9e sur le campus lillois de l\u2019I\u00c9SEG, pour que chaque \u00e9tudiant puisse participer de mani\u00e8re tr\u00e8s simple. Ensuite, le jeudi 23 octobre, un atelier de couture a \u00e9t\u00e9 organis\u00e9 pour transformer en bonnets (turbans) les t-shirts r\u00e9colt\u00e9s, le tout dans une ambiance conviviale et chaleureuse<\/strong>. Les bonnets ainsi confectionn\u00e9s ont \u00e9t\u00e9 revers\u00e9es \u00e0 l’association “Mon Bonnet Rose<\/a>” qui, en novembre, les distribuera \u00e0 des femmes atteintes du cancer du sein. L’association \u0153uvre depuis 2016 pour accompagner les femmes touch\u00e9es par le cancer du sein et leur redonner confiance, notamment via la mise \u00e0 disposition de bonnets, d\u2019accessoires et de conseils adapt\u00e9s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So, what is this challenge all about? From October 1 to 17, students and staff on I\u00c9SEG\u2019s Lille campus were invited to donate t-shirts\u2014a simple and accessible way for everyone to take part. Then, on Thursday, October 23, a sewing workshop was held to transform the collected t-shirts into beanies (turbans), in a warm and friendly atmosphere.<\/strong> The handcrafted beanies were then donated to the association Mon Bonnet Rose<\/a><\/em> (My Pink Beanie<\/em>), which will distribute them in November to women undergoing breast cancer treatment. Since 2016, Mon Bonnet Rose<\/em> has been working to support women affected by breast cancer, helping them regain confidence by providing adapted headwear, accessories, and personalized advice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bureau de l\u2019Humanitaire and D\u00e9fil\u2019Cancer: two committed associations<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
\u201cBeing a member of the ‘Bureau de l\u2019Humanitaire’ is a way to connect with people, to have authentic interactions, to help others, and to feel useful. It\u2019s essential for me to find that human and social connection, which I feel can sometimes be missing in business schools and in the corporate world,\u201d <\/em>shares Lisa Maigrot. She adds: \u201cWe\u2019re very proud of this event, of how well it was received, and of the number of students who got involved. It was just as important for us to share a friendly, meaningful moment together.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Bureau de l\u2019Humanitaire<\/em> has no intention to stop here. Upcoming initiatives include a donation drive for Ludopital, a painting workshop with people with disabilities in partnership with GEMSA, collaborations with the Food Bank, and the organization of a Solidarity Christmas Market alongside the AEIL (I\u00c9SEG Lille Students\u2019 Association) on campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, D\u00e9fil\u2019Cancer<\/em> is already hard at work preparing its annual fashion show, which will take place in March 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
