{"id":184751,"date":"2026-01-09T18:28:19","date_gmt":"2026-01-09T17:28:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ieseg.fr\/?post_type=news&#038;p=184751"},"modified":"2026-01-14T16:45:39","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T15:45:39","slug":"bdh-paris-telethon","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.ieseg.fr\/en\/news\/bdh-paris-telethon\/","title":{"rendered":"Solidarity in Action: I\u00c9SEG\u2019s humanitarian student association and T\u00e9l\u00e9thon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong><em>Every year, the Humanitarian Student Association (Bureau de l\u2019Humanitaire \u2013 BDH) of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieseg.fr\/en\/life-at-ieseg\/paris-campus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">I\u00c9SEG Paris<\/a>, made up of 21 members divided into three distinct teams (Events, Sponsorships and Communication), mobilises around an emblematic cause: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.afm-telethon.fr\/fr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">T\u00e9l\u00e9thon<\/a> (a large-scale annual charity event in France that raises funds to support medical research and improve the lives of people affected by rare genetic diseases<\/em>)<em>. Through this unifying event, the student association reaffirms its commitment to local humanitarian action by bringing together several hundred students around a shared objective.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">A year-round commitment<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Created to enable students to engage concretely in solidarity-based initiatives, the Humanitarian Office carries out actions across several areas throughout the year. <em>\u201cThere are many ways for us to take action,\u201d<\/em> explains Ma\u00eblle GUENEGAN, a fourth-year student in I\u00c9SEG\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieseg.fr\/en\/programs\/grande-ecole-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Grande \u00c9cole Program<\/a> and Vice-President of the BDH.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the <strong>T\u00e9l\u00e9thon is the association\u2019s flagship event, the BDH also organizes year-round initiatives known as \u201cB\u00e9n\u00e9voles d\u2019un Jour\u201d (Volunteers for a Day).<\/strong> These include blood donation drives, visits to nursing homes, food collections for the Red Cross, and clothing drives for <em>Secours Populaire<\/em>. The primary goal of the Humanitarian Office is to make humanitarian engagement accessible to everyone through one-off, high-impact actions, while promoting local solidarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><em>\u201cThese types of initiatives don\u2019t take much time but allow students to get involved in local humanitarian work. In France, there are many ways to engage in humanitarian action close to home, contrary to what people might think!\u201d<\/em> <\/em>says Ma\u00eblle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><em>\u201cWe designed a fun exercise for a negotiation course in the Master\u2019s program in Commercial Engineering, for the benefit of Secours Populaire. Students had to leave campus in teams to approach passers-by and try to trade a pen for a larger object, then continue exchanging items until they obtained the biggest object possible. This allowed them to practise negotiation skills while supporting a good cause. They were amazing\u2026 they managed to bring back scooters and children\u2019s toys! We then collected the items and donated them to Secours Populaire,\u201d<\/em><\/em> explains Ma\u00eblle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">The T\u00e9l\u00e9thon: a historic and unifying event<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Held every year in early December,<strong> the BDH T\u00e9l\u00e9thon has become a must-attend event in I\u00c9SEG\u2019s student life.<\/strong> <em>\u201cIt\u2019s an event we look forward to every year, just like the school\u2019s major highlights,\u201d<\/em> says Ma\u00eblle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are invited to gather in the evening to run, walk or scoot along a track located at Les Invalides in Paris. <strong>Each lap generates a \u20ac3 donation to the T\u00e9l\u00e9thon, thanks to the support of the main partner, BNP Paribas<\/strong>, which has been backing the event for several years. Other sponsors, such as Red Bull, also contribute to its success. <em>\u201cThe event is open to all students and alumni, whether they are athletic or not. Everyone goes at their own pace and completes as many laps as they wish\u2026 there are no real rules. Students usually come in groups of friends to enjoy a great time together in a friendly atmosphere, while supporting a charitable cause they care about. It\u2019s not a competition, but rather a moment of sharing,\u201d<\/em> Ma\u00eblle explains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 6, 2025, I\u00c9SEG <strong>students and alumni came together and raised \u20ac21,312 for the T\u00e9l\u00e9thon, completing a total of 7,104 laps<\/strong>, all in a warm and supportive atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>C\u00e9cile PERRIER, communications manager for the BDH, adds: <em>\u201cThe success of the event is mainly due to student mobilisation, but also to the involvement of other student associations. We work closely with them to promote the event, particularly on social media, to give it maximum visibility and maximise participation. Instagram stories, dedicated visuals, profile pictures\u2026 everything is designed to encourage people to take part. The goal is to raise as much money as possible for the T\u00e9l\u00e9thon!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the day of the event, I\u00c9SEG Paris\u2019 audiovisual association, PIB, captures the moment by producing photo and video coverage on site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the years to come, the Humanitarian Office aims to strengthen its existing initiatives while further developing the \u201cB\u00e9n\u00e9voles d\u2019un Jour\u201d programme, with the goal of offering two actions per month. New ideas are also in development, such as solidarity collections organised as inter-association challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">The Humanitarian Office (BDH): an association to develop professional skills<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>As highlighted by Ma\u00eblle and C\u00e9cile, beyond its social and humanitarian mission,<strong> the BDH enables its members to develop valuable skills for their future professional lives.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>\u201cBeing part of the Humanitarian Office has taught me a great deal professionally. As C\u00e9cile\u2019s predecessor in the Communication team, I was able to develop knowledge related to social media communication, as well as more technical skills such as video editing. Since becoming Vice-President, my role has allowed me to develop management skills. Of course, my involvement in student life also helps me feel more integrated into everyday school life.\u201d<\/p><cite>Ma\u00eblle GUENEGAN, Vice-President of the Humanitarian Office, Paris<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p><em>\u201cDiscovering humanitarian missions while building connections with students who share the same values is, for me, the true added value of this association. Developing my organisational skills by working as part of a team and creating concrete, meaningful projects is what the Humanitarian Office brings me. From a professional standpoint, my role in the Communication team allows me to directly apply the lessons learned at I\u00c9SEG. Managing social media, creating visuals, producing video content, and coordinating with other associations or partners are all tasks that echo the courses taken in the Grande \u00c9cole
