Aditi SARASWAT (who graduated the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ieseg.fr\/en\/programs\/specialized-masters\/master-international-business\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Master in International Business<\/a> in 2020), People Operations Partner at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pigment.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Pigment<\/a>, knows this better than most. While she uses AI daily to enhance efficiency, analysis and continuous improvement, she firmly resists the temptation of full automation or blind trust in technology. In this interview, she shares a modern vision of a profession in transition\u2014one where performance only has value when guided by human judgment, responsibility and empathy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">Aditi SARASWAT, what is your role as people operations partner at Pigment?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It is a wide-ranging role that covers the entire employee lifecycle across all the countries where Pigment operates\u2014France, the United Kingdom and Germany. I oversee payroll and benefits, employee onboarding and offboarding, as well as labor law and compliance policies. I also provide day-to-day support to employees and help resolve operational issues. <strong>Acting as both an operational and strategic link, I liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, including employees, managers and external partners<\/strong> such as payroll providers and benefits brokers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">Is Artificial Intelligence part of your daily operations?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, both for practical and strategic purposes, including HR task automation, decision support and Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS). I regularly rely on AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Pigment AI Agent, Hibob AI, Notion AI and Metaview to draft policies, summarize meetings, structure communications for managers and accelerate documentation processes. However, human oversight, validation and accountability remain essential at every stage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">How do you strike the right balance between automation and human judgment?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The risk is real, especially when dealing with sensitive issues such as performance evaluations, promotion decisions or career development discussions. That is why <strong>I never consider AI a decision-making authority, but rather a tool that supports my own judgment<\/strong>. It is useful for drafting initial versions, identifying patterns and building proposals, yet the final decision must remain human. I am also careful to ensure that managers do not place excessive trust in technology-generated outputs. I systematically complement them with concrete data, observed behaviors and contextual insights. <strong>AI is a starting point, not the conclusion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ieseg.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/2025-06-25Pigmentportraitsgalerie-45-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-188539\" width=\"350\" height=\"520\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">Can you give us a concrete example of how you use it?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When conducting a benchmark on employee benefits in Germany, AI can quickly summarize best practices around parental leave or incentives for commuting by bicycle. These insights are then adapted internally, considering the company\u2019s culture, cost structure and employee feedback.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">Would you say AI is making you more efficient at work?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, particularly when analyzing key indicators such as workforce evolution, turnover trends, probation outcomes, onboarding timelines, seniority distribution, gender ratios, average age, etc. <strong>These analyses allow me to move quickly from raw data to actionable insights<\/strong>. I also use AI to review People Operations support tickets in Freshservice. By identifying recurring requests and themes, I can detect friction points in the employee experience\u2014such as gaps in understanding around benefits, payroll or administrative processes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">How do you use the insights gained from these analyses?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We translate them into concrete actions<\/strong>, ranging from creating or improving content pages on Notion to sending targeted or company-wide communications, and even proactively organizing short meetings around recurring topics. As a result, we have seen a significant decline in tickets related to the most common and repetitive issues, along with shorter resolution times. Before AI came into play, these requests were handled manually and reactively. Today, <strong>the technology enables a more proactive, data-driven approach, allowing the People team to focus its added value on more sensitive employee needs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">Do your employees also use AI? If so, to what extent?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Internally, employees use AI tools such as the Pigment app or Comptrix to track their achievements, prepare for one-on-one meetings and gain a clearer understanding of expectations. As a result, I see them attending these meetings better prepared than before: they complete the documentation in advance, ask more targeted questions and conduct research on topics such as immigration or employee benefits. Ultimately, this contributes to improving both the quality and structure of the dialogue with managers and the People team. It is a win-win situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">How do you ensure that AI is used ethically in a field as sensitive as HR?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We have established clear principles. Employees\u2019 personal and sensitive data must never be shared with public AI tools. We rely exclusively on company-approved software, and all data storage and usage remain internal. Any AI-generated content is systematically reviewed before being shared with employees. Privacy and data protection are fundamental to People Operations roles, which means that certain information &#8211; such as gender, date of birth, address, social security numbers or bank details &#8211; is never disclosed. Past experience has shown us that privacy considerations must always come first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">Can you tell us more?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I was once asked by a client to use AI to generate a report on expatriate employees. While the request was operationally lawful, it involved sensitive personal data and sharing it with an external partner via an Excel file did not seem appropriate. I therefore declined this approach and consulted the legal team to identify a secure, compliant platform that would allow the information to be stored with restricted access. <strong>This situation clearly illustrates the importance of human judgment and governance<\/strong>. What truly matters is not moving faster at any cost but ensuring that efficiency never comes at the expense of privacy or trust.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-ieseg-orange-color has-text-color\">How do you foresee the role of AI in the future? How do you see your own career evolving?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>I believe AI will increasingly take over operational and repetitive tasks such as contract drafting, document creation, payroll optimization, ticket management and routine reminders. That said, I am firmly convinced that certain aspects of People Operations should never be automated, particularly decisions related to employee benefits, individual support and complex human situations, where empathy and judgment are essential. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the long term, <strong>I see my role evolving toward that of a process architect and strategic partner<\/strong>. I will also have a responsibility to safeguard ethics, employee experience and the responsible use of AI.
