This secret garden is a lovely and perfect place to eat your Falafel (just next to the famous pedestrian street: \u201crue des Rosiers\u201d (in Paris\u2019s Jewish district). The public garden was created in 2007 and completed in 2014, by the joining up of several private gardens.<\/p>\n

The garden was named “Garden of Rosebushes – Joseph-Migneret<\/em>” in 2014, in honor of the director of the neighboring school, the Elementary School Hospitali\u00e8res-Saint-Gervais<\/em>, who, during the Second World War, was a member of the R\u00e9sistance and saved a number of children from deportation.<\/p>\n

Taken together, they reveal the political nature of Albert Kahn\u2019s work. The banker, a pacifist and an internationalist, endeavoured to act on the world by working with elites around the world.<\/p>\n

Made up of different horticultural models from various countries, Albert Kahn\u2019s gardens represent his work in the same way as his various foundations. Flower essences from Europe, America, Africa, Oceania and Asia are gathered in seven types of gardens which constitute the site. A real trip around the world!<\/p>\n

The ice cream is fresh and delicious, you only have to take into account the queue, which can be very long, and the fact that there are basically no seating places.<\/p>\n

Nicolas Flamel was a well-known alchemist and the only known maker of the Philosopher\u2019s Stone, a legendary substance with incredible powers. In Harry Potter\u2019s book, he was close friend and partner with former Albus Dumbledore. Go to the Nicolas Flamel Inn for a historical and a tasty French dinner!<\/p>\n

If you appreciate classical music, try to get to a concert at the Sainte-Chapelle. Although it is far less known or visited than its neighbor on the Ile de la Cit\u00e9 Notre-Dame, the Sainte-Chapelle is in my view one of France\u2019s most awe-inspiring gothic buildings. The stained glass windows form the main part of the structure, and one is surprised by how little stone is used. Add music to the visual spectacle, and you are in for a special evening.<\/p>\n

Trust the French to have vineyards in unusual places \u2013 such as within La Defense, Europe\u2019s largest business district! Although wine growing was a primary activity in Paris until the end of the 19th<\/sup> century, and Paris wines had such a reputation that they were served at the Kings\u2019 Court, there are only a few very small vineyards left in Paris. The Clos de Chantecoq vineyard consists of 350 Pinot Noir and 350 Chardonnay plants. Located at the Paris end of the Esplanade of La Defense, it benefits from a long exposure to the morning sun, and from the heat retention properties of high-density urban areas, which explains why its grapes tend to mature before those from France\u2019s traditional wine growing regions.<\/p>\n
