IÉSEG and EFREI partner to launch a Dual Degree in Management and Engineering

In a professional landscape where technology is fundamentally reshaping management, IÉSEG and EFREI, both recognized with the French EESPIG label and sharing the same commitment to academic excellence and an international outlook, are launching a Dual Degree in Management and Engineering (DDMI). This joint initiative aims to train a new generation of hybrid leaders, able to think strategy as much as technology.

Rapid technological shifts, such as artificial intelligence, data analytics and cybersecurity, are no longer the sole concern of engineers. They are transforming the very way companies are run and their growth strategies are shaped. Recognizing this shift, IÉSEG and EFREI have chosen to move beyond separate academic tracks and build, together, a pathway where management draws on the richness of engineering, and where technology and science open up to strategic vision.
The partnership takes shape through two reciprocal dual degrees, introduced by a scientific immersion program, designed to meet the expectations of a job market looking for professionals who can engage with every function in the company.

The Dual Degree in Engineering & Management (DDIM) allows engineering students from EFREI to join the Master’s cycle of IÉSEG’s Grande École Program. Alongside their engineering degree, students earn the IÉSEG degree, acquiring essential skills in management, strategy, and business administration. Key assets for stepping into project leadership, entrepreneurship, or executive management roles without ever sacrificing their technical foundation.

Conversely, the Dual Degree in Management & Engineering (DDMI) is designed for students enrolled in IÉSEG’s Grande École Program. Upon admission to EFREI’s Master’s cycle, students complete the program to earn both the IÉSEG degree (conferring a Master’s degree) and the official EFREI engineering title. This dual recognition gives graduates a distinct competitive edge: the credibility to understand complex technical challenges and the ability to translate them into strategic business decisions. This is a critical advantage at a time when companies are actively hiring versatile leaders who can seamlessly bridge technical and executive teams, and where cross-disciplinary skills have become an absolute necessity.

The program begins with the Scientific Immersion Semester (SIMS), which serves as a gateway for IÉSEG students to test their aptitude and build up their foundation in scientific disciplines. Hosted on the EFREI campus, SIMS allows students to confirm their interest in STEM fields before committing to the full DDMI pathway.

Students admitted to the DDMI choose one of five majors that will shape their dual expertise:
> “Information Systems Strategy & Governance” trains engineers able to steer digital transformation and align information systems with company strategy.
> “IT for Finance” prepares students to become experts who design technology solutions for investment banks, risk management and FinTechs.
> “Business Intelligence & Analytics” trains manager-engineers able to design, model, analyze and use corporate data to support strategic decision-making
> “Cybersecurity & Governance” teaches students to steer information systems security strategies and organizations’ digital risks.
> “Data Engineering & AI” trains future experts in data engineering, large-scale data processing and artificial intelligence.

These five specialized tracks share a single purpose: combining managerial vision and technical expertise in professions where this dual skill set is in high demand, and which therefore ensures strong professional integration, in France and abroad.

“In a professional world where the boundaries between management and technology are dissolving, providing our students with the opportunity to build hybrid skill sets is essential. This dual degree with EFREI directly addresses the needs of companies seeking professionals who can engage with technical teams while driving strategic initiatives. For our students, it is also a powerful career accelerator: they graduate with a rare dual expertise that carries immediate value in the job market, alongside a unique ability to bridge different fields of knowledge throughout their careers,” explains Robert JOLIET, Academic Director of Programs at IÉSEG.

This partnership reflects IÉSEG’s ongoing strategy to expand academic bridges with top-tier institutions, offering students increasingly versatile, multidisciplinary learning pathways aligned with the needs of the modern economy.
