IÉSEG and GARP sign a partnership to address climate issues and risk management

In 2022, IÉSEG signed a groundbreaking partnership with GARP (Global Association of Risk Professionals), a globally recognized leader in risk management, especially in finance, banking, insurance, and consulting. Students in the apprenticeship program “Financial Institutions: Risk Management & Compliance” were thus given the opportunity to obtain prestigious professional certifications, including the Financial Risk Manager (FRM®). GARP also advised the School to align its risk management teaching with the needs and best practices of the global industry.

In January 2026, IÉSEG decided to strengthen its relationship with GARP® by signing a new partnership allowing to integrate the “Sustainability and Climate Risk” (SCR®) certification into its academic offerings.

The SCR® certification: a new milestone for 2026

The SCR® certification specifically targets skills related to climate risks, ESG criteria, and sustainability in risk management. Its curriculum covers the fundamentals of climate change, international regulations, the impact of climate on strategy and finance, as well as scenario analysis and reporting. Recognized by major industry players, the SCR® enhances the value of students’ programs, who are now better prepared for employer expectations and market developments.

Concrete benefits for students and the School

This enhanced partnership allows IÉSEG to offer its students optimum preparation for the SCR® certification. Students benefit from dedicated resources, exam scholarship opportunities, as well as participation in events and conferences with international practitioners. They develop a distinctive expertise sought after by banks, insurance companies, and businesses committed to ESG and climate issues.

IÉSEG’s vision on climate risk management

For Jérémie BERTRAND, Deputy Academic Director – Grande École Program’s Master cycle at IÉSEG, “our partnership with GARP reflects our commitment to opening up opportunities for students in managing risks related to climate and sustainability.
The SCR® certification provides real added value, aligning with the international and responsible nature of our programs, and meets the needs expressed by the financial sector and companies regarding skills and commitment to ESG issues.
This partnership demonstrates the practical and operational nature of our teaching: it validates the content of our courses by offering students not only international recognition but also rigorous preparation based on expected standards on the job market.

This renewed partnership confirms IÉSEG’s position among schools committed to careers in risk management, while enabling students to actively prepare for the sector’s developments and the challenges of responsible finance.
