Teaching Excellence Awards 2025: “A collective achievement”

Each year, IÉSEG professors nominated through student course evaluations have the opportunity to submit an application for the Teaching Excellence Awards. These awards aim to highlight faculty members’ commitment to innovative, active, and caring pedagogy that supports student learning and skills development.

In their applications, the nominated professors share their educational vision and explain how they contribute to enhancing the quality of students’ learning experience or to promoting excellence in recognized teaching practices.

Thus, the awards honor not only pedagogical creativity and innovation, but also the ability of professors to create engaging, stimulating, human-centered learning experiences tailored to the needs of every student.

The importance of collective effort

During the 7th edition of the awards ceremony, held on November 7, 2025, all the winning professors emphasized that the award represents “recognition of a collective effort.”

“As much as I am honored to receive this distinction, it is thanks in large part to the collective work of IÉSEG’s teams—especially the administrative staff, for their logistical support, from room preparation to equipment setup and course scheduling. This award is not just mine; it also belongs to all those who help create the right conditions for me to do my job as a teacher,” said Johannes CLAEYS, Professor of Leadership.

Professors recognized across six categories

Each of the awarded professors exemplifies IÉSEG’s pedagogical excellence in their own way, demonstrating the essential role of collaboration and innovation in learning. In the 2025 edition, seven professors were honored:

  • “Grande École Program – Bachelor Cycle” Category: Rodrigo KAMBAYASHI, Professor of Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Innovation
  • “Grande École Program – Master Cycle” Category: Jingjing YAO, Professor of International Negotiation
  • Catégorie “Bachelors” Category: Maud VAN DER BROEKE, Professor of Operations Management
  • “Executive Education” Category : Johannes CLAEYS, Professor of Leadership
  • “Post-graduate Programs” Category : Tanja MLINAR, Professor of Supply Chain and Operations Management, and Barbara SLAVICH, Professor of Organizational Management and Human Resource Management
  • “Digital” Category: Jonas DEBRULLE, Professor of Entrepreneurship. In this category—which aims to recognize the creative use of technology in teaching across all programs—candidates are assessed solely on the application file they submit voluntarily.

These awards serve as a reminder that teaching at IÉSEG is a shared endeavor: that of a community that innovates, supports, and grows together. The 2025 Teaching Excellence Awards highlight the strength of its active, engaging, collaborative, and deeply human pedagogy, fully aligned with its Vision: “Empowering Changemakers for a Better Society.”
