CRM Strategy Specialist, Ubisoft
France
I am a CRM Strategy Specialist at Ubisoft. My role is to manage several communication channels to maintain a personalized relationship with players. Concretely, I design and implement customized email campaigns, in-game messages (in-game news), and notifications via platforms such as PlayStation, Xbox, or Steam, in order to deliver the right message to the right person at the right time. To ensure relevance, I work closely with development studios to gain a deep understanding of the games I am responsible for. This close connection with the creative process is something I am passionate about and allows me to consistently put myself in the player’s shoes.
The main lessons I take away from my experience at IÉSEG are its international outlook: working alongside students and professors from diverse backgrounds taught me how to communicate and collaborate in an intercultural context, which is highly valuable in my current role. I also benefited from the Grande Ecole Program‘s generalist approach, with a wide variety of courses at the beginning of the program, which helped me gradually identify the specialization that suited me best: marketing management.
Among the courses I particularly enjoyed was Consumer Behavior, which explores how even the smallest details in a marketing strategy can have a significant impact when thoughtfully designed; Brand Management, which teaches what a brand is and how to build one—I especially appreciated studying the psychological drivers behind growing a brand from its early stages; International Marketing, which focuses on how to develop marketing strategies on a global scale—I found the cultural challenges it presents especially engaging; and finally, English for Debating, a particularly useful course for developing public speaking skills.
The international environment at IÉSEG helped me feel at ease when joining a multinational company, and the constant group work taught me how to successfully manage projects as a team, as well as how to handle conflicts and misunderstandings that are inherent to professional life.
The numerous internships I completed during my studies allowed me to learn the informal codes of corporate life before fully entering the workforce. In addition, I was able to write my thesis on a topic I am passionate about—video games—which enabled me to secure a position in this industry. I consider this thesis to have been the foundation of the role I hold today.
Finally, at IÉSEG, I learned to express myself confidently in oral communication, which is key in a professional environment to convey ideas effectively and showcase one’s work.
