Sixth edition of the ICOR awards: a thesis on the use of blockchain to encourage the deployment of the circular economy wins 1st prize
Every year, IÉSEG and its Center for Organizational Responsibility (ICOR) organize a competition to award the best “IÉSEG student thesis” regarding organizational ethics, social responsibility and sustainable development.
For the sixth edition of this prize, a group of academic experts evaluated 21 theses at the end of last year in order to select the best three in terms of academic criteria.
A panel of professionals, this year including Arnaud Rolland, Directeur RSE, Coca-Cola European Partners, Léa Dhelin, Positive strategy and innovation Senior Consultant, @Imagin/able, co-founder of the ‘Green is the New Black’ project and IÉSEG alumna, as well as Quentin Oustelandt, Co-founder of Energic, then selected the winner from the finalists.
The 2021 ICOR Prize was thus awarded to Aymeric Bricout (2020 Grande Ecole Program alumnus) on Tuesday, March 9th, during CSR Day, for his thesis entitled: “Implementing the Blockchain Technology for Traceability and Transparency in Value Chain Networks in support of a Circular Economy: A Comparative Study Confronting Claims from the Existing Literature and Field Experts” (IÉSEG thesis supervisor: Loïc BERGER).

Every year, the winner of the ICOR Prize wins €2,000: €1,000 for the winner and €1,000 for the winner to give to a non-profit organization or social enterprise of their choice.
Aymeric chose to donate this sum to €1,000 to Echo100Plus, a charity organization whose volunteers work in migrant camps in Greece, organizing sports and educational activities, language courses, etc.
The two other ICOR Prize finalists were:
- Marthe CREPELLE for her thesis entitled, “The relationship between CSR and individuals’ attraction, social identity and person-organization fit” (IÉSEG thesis supervisor: Elise MARESCAUX)
- Jules MARTINA for his thesis entitled, “What could influence a donor’s motivation to support a crowdfunding campaign made by a social enterprise based in a developing country?” (IÉSEG thesis supervisor: Paulami MITRA)
