[Alumni Story] Thibaut EGGERMONT : its digital agency – Ikomobi – extends its reach

As head of the digital agency Ikomobi for more than a decade, Thibaut EGGERMONT (who graduated the Grande École Program in 1998) has witnessed first-hand the digital evolution of society and the business world. His clients can count on him to come up with perfectly made-to-measure solutions, drawing on his expertise and understanding of the challenges facing businesses. He sums up his core aim as “putting digital technology into everyone’s hands”.

What can you tell us about your career path?
I started at KPMG as an auditor before taking on CFO positions at SMEs in both industry and services. At the same time, I worked as a coach for the entrepreneur network Réseau Entreprendre Nord, which was a good way to learn while waiting to fulfil my lifelong goal of becoming an entrepreneur myself! The opportunity arose in 2011 when I joined the start-up Ikomobi as CEO. Our business is focused on supporting companies of all sizes, making digital technology accessible with a user-centred design approach.

Who are your company’s employees and customers?
Ikomobi now has about 20 employees: one third “Picasso” and two thirds “Mecano”: UX designers, project managers, web and mobile developers, etc.
We have three main groups of clients: historic “key accounts” with a strong digital maturity, “digital native” startups that we support on the market and finally SMEs and ETIs, who understand the need to digitise and who need our expertise.
After ten years structuring the company, I now spend most of my time looking after our clients and finding new ones in a very competitive sector. My day-to-day work as a business manager is also focused on attracting and retaining talent as well as constantly reassessing our business model.

In terms of digital technology, what major changes have you seen since your arrival in 2011?
Little by little, the design phases of the user experience (UX design) have taken on more and more importance ahead of technical development. Very quickly, a synergy developed between mobile applications and web solutions for customers with multiple needs and in search of flexibility. Based on decoupled architecture, our BiZZ! platform responds perfectly to this challenge. Finally, we have been working for several months on the digital accessibility and energy-saving features of our solutions: this is becoming increasingly important and it’s a real responsibility.

How has IÉSEG helped you on this entrepreneurial journey?
The general training I got there, the many opportunities to put this into practice in real-life situations, the values of the School and the capacity for work that was instilled in me were real assets when it came to getting started. I am pleasantly surprised by the diversity of expertise that students are gaining today, especially those who are passionate about coding. There are opportunities to work as project managers or technical-functional consultants for work-study students or graduates
